2024 will be my 10th year shooting Polaroid film. In honor of that, and as a challenge to myself I plan to take at least one instant film photo a day. In addition, I've collected a handful of cameras and related gear throughout the course of these 10 years so for this challenge I need to use each camera and related gear item at least once. Lenses here I come!
In short, here is the challenge:
At least 1 photo a day
Shoot with every camera in my collection throughout the course of the year
Use every piece of Polaroid related camera gear I own throughout the course of the year
As it is already the end of the first week of 2024, I've uploaded the first 6 photos below. The rest of the challenge photos can be found in Gallery > Project: 24
End of Year Reflection

Well, saying this project didn’t turn out would be an understatement. By February, I was already bored of taking one photo a day. I was so set on taking a photo a day, but was at a loss of what to take a photo of that I quickly lost interest. It felt like a waste of film, and thus money, to force myself to take a photo of things just to say I took a photo when in reality the photos were boring. It also didn’t help that I was so disappointed in some of the photos that I would try to retake them until I got it 'right'.
In my opinion, the purpose of these challenges is to push yourself to learn new techniques; and in my case every use piece of Polaroid related gear I had. To that, I was more successful. I believe I used all my Polaroid accessories, though I can’t say the same about using every camera I own (sorry box cameras). While I didn’t take a photo every day of the year, I do believe I’ve been successful with learning and applying new techniques to my shots and that I’ve been rather creative; particularly the multiple exposure, nature (view the Natural Perspectives gallery), and fireworks photos.
Project: 24, A Year of Photos was a failure. However, I believe 2024 was a year of successful photography and I am already enjoying 2025.
